30 Before 30! :)

Wednesday, April 04, 2012

So the title gives away that I am not 30 yet. ;)
I have just few months and 3 years to accomplish things on this list. Not that this list would be my guiding light for the next few years, but since making a list is so much fun and striking things off the list is even more fun, I made this list. What do you think?

How many of these things do you think I will be able to complete? How many should be done? Any suggestions that I might add here? What's on your list if you have one? Don't worry if you are over 30, you can write your 35 before 35 or 40 before 40 lists!

    1. You make it sound as if marriage is the end of life! :)
If you think doing all this stuff after marriage is impossible, then it is equally impossible for a girl to do all this before marriage either!

There is always a way to make things happen, if you really want to do it. Don't give up on your dreams. :)

  6. Point 20: Go to Pakistan, I want that too for the sole reason that K2 stands there. That monster of a mountain, I want to see it upfront.

  8. Hi Neelima, I am usually a silent reader of your posts. I have become a fan of your exuberance. I feel myself lucky that I met you. All I would say at this point is that, one point which is there in my to do list is to go on an exciting trip with you.

    1. Thanks much Mukul, but I am sure there must be other exciting things on your list. I always don't have exciting trips, maybe I just write about the exciting stuff! ;)

  9. Learning how to swim and go couchsurfing are also on my list of things to do before I die! Alas, I am deathly afraid of water and all my attempts to learn to stay afloat have failed, and I'm too shy to go couchsurfing in the home of a perfect stranger. Hopefully, I still have lots of years left to try and tick these things off my list!

  11. Great list there. You surely can knock em all off before 30. Time to write you bucket list too. We have some in common. Mine's over here. http://runnareshrun.blogspot.com/p/bucket-list.html

The worst thing, when I strike-off something, I add at least two new items to the list.

  16. Hey Neelima
What a pleasure going through ur blog..truly so. Got introduced to ur blog by a friend and its like best thing to read (especially at times when i'm in the middle of a crazy deadline at worrk..super frustrated and that's when it motivates me even more to chase my own desires)...Have always had in the back of my mind things to do before die..but 30 before 30 is an amazing concept..its like u need a short term goal to support ur long term vision or else its all a fallacy.
Ulan bataar and 100 strangers project were alien to me till now...glad i bumped into this blog. But Pakistan is one place i want to visit since forever..have missed a close chance already. Inshallah, i shall make it soon.
P.S: Thanks again for sharing the lovely concept..would love to meet u in person someday and even plan visit to Pakistan together:)
    Keep sharing!!!

  17. I am so happy to encounter your page on facebook through which I have rekindled my love to travel... But I think I am not as passionate as you though I live in Bangalore as well. I always like to travel with my friends but I don't get to do that since most are busy with their corporate worlds now. I am happy to read all your posts since it feels like I can travel as well.... Thanks for inspiring

And I know what you mean when you say friends are always busy to take time for travel, even I experienced the same. But it doesn't have to be that way. If you really want to travel, there are a lot of clubs doing group travel and they are quite fun too. Plus the added bonus is meeting new and like minded people. Here's wishing more travels to you.

  18. Good going, Neelima.
I've done a few things from your list and many others which do not appear here.
It's good to make a list & visit it from time to time.

I haven't made any list as I felt it'll restrict me from doing other things which are not part of it.

And yes, I've also crossed from one country to another on foot..... many times. And Pakistan is in my list as well. :)

All the best for your future endeavors. You are a brave woman.

    1. Thanks for your comment Nisha!
Considering the number of travelers who want to visit Pakistan from India, we should all form a group and make that dream come true. Many people do feel making a list might limit one to the things in the list, but I see it as a reminder to all the things that have to be done. Meanwhile I am having other awesome experiences too, but to tell you the truth, it is awesome fun to strike things off! But if not a to-do list, it must be fun to make a done list as well. ;)

I'd love to hear about how you crossed countries on foot! Was it by road or trek? I know I put that point in my list but I had no idea how or why I wanted to do that.

And I am not brave at all, always scare myself silly! :D

One of my recommendations for 23 on your list is Tongba. Since, you harbor a love for the Himalayas you should be coming across this amazing drink sometime soon (if not already).

Stumbled upon your website sometime ago and I wanted to let you know that you have been an inspiration for folks like me who are taking their baby steps towards travel writing.
